Ever since my first guest post for fellow dog blog The Stately Hound, I’ve been itching to put paws to iPAD to share my modern dog lifestyle favourites and hound happenings. In my quest to become a roving re-pawter I’ve aggressively pursued my editor with puppy dog eyes and trick wizardry, which has landed me my very own column – Basil's Blog so here goes …
Earlier this week, my editor and I were invited to attend the launch of Bites & Bones at Bluebird restaurant in Chelsea hosted in association with one of my favourite online boutiques PetsPyjamas.com. It was to be my first public engagement so I was keen to impress. Grooming prep included a warm bath shampooing with Scruffy Chops Rhubarking Mad, a post-bath spritz with lavender water, brushed gnashers, a thorough rub with my grooming mitt followed by a quick buff with a chamois leather to make my coat soft and shiny.
Anticipating a fashionable and stylish crowd, I accessorised wisely with a monochrome neckerchief and my new orange calfskin leather collar and lead set from The Mutts Nutz. It was well worth the effort for the glamorous guests and their haute hounds including the likes of Made In Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue and Binky Felstead, who were attending the event with their dogs Noodle and Scrumble. A fabulous affair, highlights included forging a new friendship with Dizzee a blue Frenchie, having myself fashioned into an inflatable work on art by Twistina the Balloon Lady and being called ‘a lovely boy’ by male supermodel and dog-lover David Gandy (pictured with little me and my editor up top).
Social engagements aside, recently rocking my dog world are:
Venison Treats for Dogs from Billy + Margot – I took home a bag of this 100% air-dried venison meat in my Bites & Bones goodie bag and cannot get enough of the stuff. Fetch yours from Billyandmargot.com.
The sweet skills of Australian cattle dog Jack via Metro UK, who can balance untold amounts of household objects on his head, and I thought I was doing well with roll over, go crazy! Clearly I've got a lot to learn in the tricks department.
