We are clapping our paws with delight at the action-packed summer that lies ahead. A dedicated day of nine to fido for your dog this Friday, opportunities to chomp fillet steak, Pup Idols in the park... And if you’re also partial to pussycats, we’ve got something for you too. 26 June: BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY, Nationwide
Some lucky owners already take their four-legged friend to work but for those of you that don’t this Friday is your dog’s opportunity to woo, woof and win over your colleagues and bosses, while helping to raise funds for All Dogs Matter.

26-28 June: BEST OF BRITANNIA LONDON, Nicholls and Clarke Building, 3-10 Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6PG
Celebrating British design and manufacturing, Best of Britannia returns for their annual pop-up department store experience, with two of our favourite British pet brands on show. Stop and say hi to the lovely guys at Rokabone and Baker & Bray where you can pick up pet wear as fancy as Basil Barkarama’s. Entertainment includes Rare Groove and Northern Soul from DJ Norman Jay, the East End Film Festival, trend talks and tunes from Hoxton FM, fine food and drink, plus the Classic Car Boot for vintage buys. Dogs are welcome and we’ll be there on Sunday. See you there!

28 June or 30 August: PET FIRST AID COURSE, Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, 152-154 Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch, London, E2 6DG
Ideal for pet owners or pet professionals, this is a four-hour, hands-on practical course led by qualified instructors, taking you through the main areas of first aid for cats and dogs. Should you be thinking of a new career with animals, this is a great step to learning about working with pets and you’ll leave with a certificate to demonstrate your new skills. Over 16’s only.

4 July: BATTERSEA’S OLD WINDSOR FUN DAY, Priest Hill, Old Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 2JN
Enjoy your mutt-ment in the spotlight in a host of dog classes including Waggiest Tail, Golden Oldie, Prettiest Lady and more. If that’s not your thing, there’s lots of games and agility to put you through your paces, as well as stalls to shop for your pooch, photo sessions, a bouncy castle and a coconut shy.

5 July: HYDE BARK, The Cockpit, Hyde Park, London
This annual fido fiesta returns in aid of The Mayhew Animal Home, with fun for all the family including Dog Shows (who doesn’t love to parade their pooch), agility, Temptation Alley (= shopping), vet demonstrations, pet behaviour advise, face painting and more. Also expect a few famous judges.

5 July: DOGGY SUNDAY, Gaucho Hampstead, 64 Heath Street, London, NW3 1DN 
The first Sunday of every month sees a doggy takeover at the Hampstead outpost of this popular Argentinian Steak House so you and your canine can dine on fine cuts of steak. Work up an appetite pre-meal or burn off calories at nearby Hampstead Heath. It’s a popular affair so booking is essential.

16 August: PUG FEST’S FIRST BIRTHDAY, Unit 2&3 Guardian Industrial Estate, Tremorfa, Cardiff CF24 2QS
Watch a bevvy of squishy-faced beauties in the Grand Dog Show, marvel as Pugs take on agility, and get your Pug pampered with a mini makeover and photo-shoot.

22 August: WOOFSTOCKUK, Marnhull, Dorset
Now in its second year, WoofstockUK returns but without the bands this time – we’re assuming the hound dogs didn’t like it! Little info has been released yet but it’s outdoor fun, shows and shopping. Visit the site for updates and sign up to their social feeds. Peace dog!
